Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
